Old Town Hall :
The old town hall (1864; Renaissance style) dominates the port by its bell tower, a lace belfry. Today it houses the ciotaden Museum.
Chapel of the Blue Penitents :
Chapel dating from 1626, architecture of the Counter-Reformation: octagonal bell tower, sculptures, gargoyles ... Restored and hosting exhibitions. Overlooks an esplanade facing the marina.
Chapel of Our Lady of the Guard :
After passing through a subdivision of small villas built in a North African style, on top of a hill, is the chapel of Notre-Dame-de-la-Garde, from the early seventeenth century, with a porch from 1864. It is decorated with ex-votos of sailors and fishermen grateful to the Virgin of the Guard. Tourist viewpoint from the chapel.
Eden Theatre :
Built in 1889, it is the oldest cinema still in operation in the world. Classified as a Historic Monument in 1996.
Church of Our Lady of the Port :
Traditional altar. Frescoes with a contrast of styles (seventeenth century / twentieth century)
Palais Lumière :
Family home of the Lumière brothers, inventors of the Cinématographe. It is in the park of the property that Auguste and Louis Lumière turned "the Sprinkler watered", "the Baby Lunch"... The castle is currently a private condominium. The castle is not visitable but remains a witness to the historical heritage. Open during Heritage Days only.
Commemorative plaque of the Lumières Brothers :
A commemorative plaque in the SNCF train station. They shot their first film here: the entrance of a train at La Ciotat station.
Old Port of La Ciotat :
La Ciotat has beautiful houses of the seventeenth century around the port. The old Town Hall houses the Ciotaden Museum.
Green Island:
A stone's throw from the coast, Île Verte, with lush vegetation, is the only wooded island in the Bouches-du-Rhône. It is at the same time a place of swimming, discovery, leisure, fishing, diving and acts as a real natural dike.
Anse de Figuerolles :
Due to its exceptional relief, Anse de Figuerolles offers you a unique panorama. The little attendance gives it all its charm. Calanque de Mugel: A true geological fortress built on the torrents of the secondary, the Calanque du Mugel is an exceptional natural site nestled in the shelter of the Bec de l'Aigle massif. The creek is home to the Parc du Mugel, a green setting that invites you to walk and discover the many plants of our region.
The Calanques National Park
Created on April 18, 2012, the Calanques National Park is the 10th French national park and the first in Europe at the same time terrestrial, marine and peri-urban. Within the limestone coastal Provence, the heart of the National Park, which extends over the municipalities of Marseille, Cassis and La Ciotat, is known throughout the world for its sublime landscapes, but also for its remarkable biodiversity and cultural wealth.
Le Bec de l'Aigle:
A magnificent natural site, geological fortress built on the torrents of the secondary whose pebbles have formed during the eras in a reddish conglomerate, the "Pudding" of the Ciotat.
